The Board of Trustees

Chair Geraldine Oliver

After education at the Looe schools she became a hairdressing apprentice at ‘The Bandbox’ in Polperro and later owned her own hairdressing salon in West Looe. She married David in 1964 and has two daughters and three grandchildren.

Geraldine has served a full term as a Councillor on the Looe Town Council and was also a Governor at Looe Community School for many years. She was also a founder member and leader at West Looe Playgroup. Geraldine became a Trustee of the West Looe Town Trust in 1989 and has been its Chairman since 1999.

James (Jimmy) Dingle

He was born and bred in Looe, and lived there for some seventy years. A long serving member of the Trust, he has also been a Looe Town Councillor for over forty years, and served on the East Looe Town Trust on and off since the late 1980's. He was an elected member to the now defunct Caradon District Council, while there he chaired the influential Environmental Services Committee. In his younger days he enjoyed playing snooker and billiards for the Looe Social Club, and snooker for the Looe Sailing Club. A keen whist player, he enjoys travelling and spending money on his wife. Easily recognisable, he has often been compared to George Clooney, albeit under carefully managed lighting conditions.

Nicholas (Nick) Pope

Nick is a native of West Looe where he lives with his wife Mags and 3 cats. Nick works as an Associate Research Fellow and Health and Safety Advisor at the Marine Biological Association in Plymouth. Outside of work Nick enjoys a wide range of outdoor sports and can often be spotted near the back of Looe Pioneers training runs!

As a Conveyancing Manager with a local firm of Solicitors handled the majority of the Trust’s legal matters from 1967 to 2003 he thereby acquired a detailed knowledge of the Trust’s constitution, ethos and properties and other assets. He became a Trustee upon retirement in 2004, serving continuously since then.
