Responsive Mode Grants
West Looe Town Trust provides grant funding to individuals and community groups within the Trust's geographical area of benefit (the area administered by Looe Town Council). All applications for grant funding MUST fall within the Trust's charitable framework.
Education Grants
Each year, West Looe Town Trust makes a significant proportion of its income available to provide financial support to those young people from Looe who are studying further education courses. Last year we have introduced a new Student Grant Application Form available for download on this website. Closing date for applications is 1st July each year. If you were too late this year to apply please keep an eye on our website for the deadline for applications for next year for students starting their studies in September.
Criteria
for funding includes:
- Applicants should be under the age
of 21.
- For the purposes of this grants
programme the Trustees can only consider applications from persons who are
permanently resident in the area of benefit [the area of benefit is that
administered by the Looe Town Council].
- A new application must be made for
each academic year.
- Grants can be made for courses
lasting for more than one year, up to a maximum of four years.
Funding
purposes:
- Travel Costs to and from your place
of study.
- Course costs such as books and
equipment, clothing.
- Please note that the Trust will
require hard copy receipts before any part of a grant is paid.
Exclusions:
- Students in courses aligned to
Apprenticeships are not suitable for grant funding.
- Normal residents outside the area
of benefit [the area of benefit is that administered by the Looe Town
Council].
- Pupils seeking funding for
expeditions either in the UK or abroad.
- Seeking help to cover costs already
incurred such as debts or loans.
- The Trust cannot help with daily
living expenses incurred during study/training such as rent, food, utilities,
and other general household bills.
Procedure:
- Students should complete the Student
Grant Form which can be downloaded from the West Looe Town Trust website
under Grants Section.
- Upon receipt of the application the
Board of Trustees will review all applicants and award grant amounts
accordingly.
- This will be notified to the
applicants by email by 1st September 2026.
- Students should then look to send
in one or two claims totalling the full amount – this information should include
receipts, breakdown of claim and purpose and must be sent in hard copy
form to the office address as above.
- Closing date for payments
will be 1st April 2027.
Queen Elizabeth II Grant
In 2022, the Board introduced a new grant in memory of Queen Elizabeth II. The Grant is available every year for 10 years from 2022 with a yearly pledge of £1000. Each application will be subject to review, to a worthy project, within our area of grant, in compliance with the Trust's Constitution and forms are available both in the office or downloadable from this website:
2022 - the money was awarded to May Fair Celebrations
2023 - it was awarded to 1st Looe Sea Scouts to improve their outside area and activities
2024 - Looe Bowling Club to buy smaller bowls for Looe School Children
2025 - Looe Netball to buy new indoor equipment and Bond Dance Company towards new sound equipment
2026 - Looe Boundless Trust for new computers for their hub.
